Chopiniana – Carpe Noctem is a contemporary reinterpretation of Mikhail Fokine’s Les Sylphides, created by choreographer Salvatore De Simone for Create Danza. Guided by the live piano performance of Andrea Bauleo, the piece reimagines the romantic moonlit world of Chopin through a modern lens. The ethereal white sylphs of the original ballet are replaced by men and women embodying enigmatic nocturnal beings, dressed and painted in black to evoke the mystery and allure of the night. Through fluid, expressive movement, the dancers celebrate desire, transformation, and the poetic tension between light and darkness, uniting Chopin’s timeless music with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.
